VERTEXA didn't begin with a factory. It began in 2008, when founder Stephen launched a small import company serving the wood-frame builders of the United States and Canada. For five years, he lived between job sites and distribution yards — in the truck, in the warehouse, in sales meetings where builders told him exactly what was wrong with the fasteners they were forced to buy.
Then, in 2013, an opportunity became a decision: we built our own factory. Not to cut corners — to stop depending on anyone else's standards and start setting our own. Today, every screw we ship is made under our own roof, on our own terms, by people who answer for their work.
They were unglamorous. We argued about thread pitch over cold coffee. We rejected our own batches rather than ship a coating that wouldn't hold. We learned steel the hard way — by testing it in the field, in every climate our customers build in. But by the late 2010s, word had spread. A contractor in Ohio tried our structural screws on a deck, then asked for them by name. A distributor in Texas asked if we could quietly build a private label for his customers. We said yes — and that became the second half of our business: not just making great fasteners, but making them for people whose names are on the box.
In 2021, we turned to the other side of the counter — the DIYer we had met a thousand times, overwhelmed by aisles of options. So we built a sizing calculator that gives the right answer before the first trip to the store, and project kits for America's most common jobs — every fastener, bit, and accessory, one box, no second trip, at a fair price.

Today, in 2026, we are still the company Stephen started in 2008 — a partner to builders, not a vendor. We still manufacture everything ourselves. We still answer our own phone. We just make more of what North America needs: from a single structural screw to an entire brand.
