Marine & Coastal / Stainless steel

MultiGrip™ Stainless Steel Countersunk Wood Screws

Choose size & pack

One versatile countersunk format for decking, fencing and outdoor wood furniture. MultiGrip™ combines a smooth shank, shank reamer, coarse wood thread and cutting point with a matched Torx drive.

Part of the Marine & Coastal collection for above-ground wood projects. Confirm the stainless grade and site exposure with VERTEXA before specifying coastal work; this page does not claim suitability for saltwater immersion.

  • Countersinking head: A countersunk profile for a flush wood surface.
  • Spiral reamer: Helps create clearance around the smooth shank.
  • Matched Torx drive: T20 for the #8 size; T25 for the #10 sizes.

Straight, face-fastened decking only: 2 screws per board at each joist. Check your board manufacturer’s spacing and fastening instructions. Edges, joints and complex layouts may need more.

Deck screw quantity guide: 5½-inch boards, ⅛-inch gaps, 16-inch joist centers and two screws at each board-joist crossing. A 120-square-foot deck needs an estimated 423 screws including 10 percent extra; one Homepak of 500 covers the estimate.
Screws = area (sq ft) × 144 ÷ joist spacing (in) ÷ [board width + gap (in)] × 2. Round up after adding extra.

FAQs

Plan the connection with confidence.

Material selection, installation and ordering guidance for your coastal wood project.
Which stainless grade is supplied?+
Confirm the alloy with VERTEXA when requesting your quote. The supplied MultiGrip dimensions do not identify a stainless grade, so this page does not assign 304 or 316.
How should I choose stainless steel for a coastal site?+
Salt exposure varies by location, wind and maintenance. Match the stainless grade to the project specification. For direct salt spray, splash zones or immersion, request a corrosion-resistant material recommendation before ordering.
Should I pre-drill?+
Confirm the pilot-hole requirement for the wood species, board thickness and edge distance. Pre-drill where required, particularly in dense wood or near an edge. Use the matching Torx bit and stop when the head seats.
Can I use these for structural connections?+
This page provides woodwork applications and dimensions, not structural design values. Use an engineered fastening schedule and a fastener approved for that connection where required.
How do I request a price?+
Choose the size and quantity above, then select Request a quote. Tell us the wood type, delivery location and coastal exposure so we can confirm material, packaging and pricing.
