What types of deck boards are compatible with the DeckMVP™ Hidden Fastening System?+
DeckMVP™ is designed for any grooved composite, PVC, or hardwood deck boards with standard side-slot profiles. Because the concealed clip wings sit neatly inside the board grooves, they create a clean, fastener-free surface across the entire deck. (Note: For solid square-edge boards without grooves, you will need to rout slots along the edges prior to installation.)
Can I use this system on metal or aluminum deck framing?+
No. The DeckMVP™ Wood Joist series is specifically engineered for wood substructures, including pressure-treated lumber, cedar, and redwood joists. The included SS304 black trim head screws feature sharp wood-biting threads and a cutting tip designed exclusively for timber framing.
Is this kit safe for ACQ or pressure-treated lumber and coastal environments?+
Both the trim head screws and the starter/edge clips are made from premium 304 Stainless Steel with a matte black protective coating. They offer superior corrosion resistance against the harsh chemicals in pressure-treated wood and standard outdoor moisture. (For direct oceanfront or saltwater splash zones, we recommend checking local building codes for Grade 316 requirements).
Do I need to buy screws, starter clips, or driver bits separately?+
Not at all. DeckMVP™ is an all-in-one kit that includes everything you need to get the job done: high-strength ABS hidden fastening clips, SS304 black trim head screws, SS304 black edge/starter clips for the perimeter boards, and S2 magnetic T15 driver bits.
What gap spacing do the DeckMVP™ clips create between deck boards?+
The durable ABS plastic body automatically spaces your deck boards at a consistent gap (typically 1/4" / 6mm, depending on board groove depth), ensuring uniform drainage, airflow, and room for natural thermal expansion without needing manual spacers.
