Yes, absolutely. DeckPro™ screws feature a multi-layer Ceramic Exterior Coating specifically formulated to withstand the harsh chemicals in pressure-treated wood (such as ACQ) and extreme outdoor weather. The premium tan finish not only resists rust and corrosion streaks, keeping your deck looking like new, but also blends seamlessly with natural and treated wood tones.
Do I need to pre-drill before driving DeckPro™ screws into decking boards?+
No pre-drilling is required in standard softwoods, cedar, redwood, and pressure-treated decking. Engineered with an aggressive Type-17 Bite Tip, each screw bites into the wood instantly and clears out wood fibers as it drives—preventing board splitting even near the edges while significantly reducing drive resistance and extending your drill's battery life.
How does DeckPro™ achieve a flush finish without tearing the wood surface?+
The precision-engineered Bugle Head is equipped with self-countersinking nibs underneath. As the screw reaches the surface, these nibs cleanly shave away top fibers, allowing the head to seat completely flush without wood tearing or "mushrooming". This ensures a smooth, splinter-free, and barefoot-friendly deck surface.
Why is there an unthreaded smooth shank below the screw head?+
That is our Smooth Upper Shank design, engineered specifically for wood-to-joist connections. As the aggressive Coarse Threads anchor deep into the bottom joist, the smooth upper shank allows the top deck board to slide freely and be pulled tightly down against the framing—eliminating board gaps ("bridging") and preventing annoying deck squeaks over time.
What type of drive bit is required, and will the screw head strip easily?+
DeckPro™ utilizes a deep Recessed Star Drive (Torx®-compatible) system. Featuring 6 full points of contact, it maximizes torque transfer and virtually eliminates bit cam-out and head stripping—allowing for smooth, one-handed, high-speed installation across thousands of deck boards.
